| The Killer Whale (Orcinus orca) also known as Orca is the largest species of the Dolphin family and can be found in all of the Oceans. Orcas are versatile and highly social and mostly feed on fish and marine mammals, including sea lions, seals and even larger whales. Orcas are sophisticated animals using hunting techniques and vocal behavior based on their family group.

Although not an endangered species, some local populations are threatened or endangered due to ocean pollution, depletion of prey or conflicts with fishing activities and vessles. Salmon in the Pacific Northwest is their main source of prey. Although Orcas (sometimes called wolves of the sea) are usually not a threat to humans, however, captive Orcas have been known to attack their handlers. Studies have found Orcas to be among the most contaminated marine mammal due to pollution and chemical contamination and more susceptible to disease and reproductive difficulties.
