Please welcome, Gene Swanson Gene is an artist and sculptor and his passion for painting is evident in every one of his beautiful canvases. I was fortunate to meet Gene at the Saddleback College "Emeritus" Art Classes where artists from all professions network and re-kindle their passion for the art of expression. We are so very happy to have Gene join us here at Oceanview Gallery.
Gene was born in and has lived most of his life in California. Upon retirement he moved to Laguna Hills and has been able to pursue a life long interest in art.
Discovering that he could sculpt, Gene has been fortunate enough to do a number of commissions for Chapman University as well as his alma mater in Oregon. For the last several years he has worked primarily with portraits and florals in pastel.

More recently, thanks to Saddleback College's Emeritus program and one of the painters in Beach Cities eclectic group of artists, Phil Journeay, he was finally able to venture out into the exciting realm of plein air painting.

Every wave and ripple, every glimmer of light and spray of salt seems to want to get into the act. So its off we go in this soul satisfying, but quixotic venture of trying to capture some impression of creation's majesty.
