Timing is everything...so the story goes that on a Friday Plein Air Outing in Laguna Beach, I had a chance meeting painting with Docia in Laguna near Emerald Bay ... beautiful day and I loved the atmospheric perspective she expressed in her painting of the Laguna bluffs in the afternoon.... softly layered playful brush strokes with light and color that just captured the late afternoon moment. The painting was simply gorgeous! Docia is fearless in expressing herself in all mediums.... oil, charcoal, acrylic, mixed...

Docia Reed grew up in a small mining town in Arizona. She did not begin her adventure into painting until she left her 20 year career in the Insurance Industry. She began taking art lessons at a local college in Arizona as well as studying privately with professional Southwestern artists.
Docia moved to beautiful Orange County, Ca. where the lure of the wonderful Laguna Beach area, as well as the historical missions, inspires her to paint in the sparkling sunlight, or in the mysterious fog.
While seascapes are her main love, she also enjoys portraiture, landscape and still life. She paints plein air along with other local artists with the San Clemente Art Association and shows regularly at the Niguel Art Association Harbor Shows at Dana Point Harbor, Ca.
