What a beautiful night to meditate and open up my consciousness to the heavens .... loved it and thought I would share - the moon came up from the Southeast and then blanked out somewhere overhead West between San Clemente Island and Catalina Island. The Sagittarius Star Field on a clear night. The Sun orbits around the Milky Way once every 200 million years at a speed of 220 kilometers per second!
The Sagittarius Star Field (best seen during Christmas season - late November to early January)
A cloud of stars in the constellation Sagittarius occurs toward the center of the Milky Way galaxy about 25,000 light years away where the stars are especially concentrated.
Most views of the center of the Milky Way galaxy are blocked by obscuring dust, but this particular region is relatively free of dust, allowing for an unobstructed view.
The color of a star is directly related to its temperature, mass, and age. Blue stars are hot, of high mass, and young Red stars are cool, of low mass, and old. Yellow stars like the Sun are of intermediate temperature, mass, and age.
hmmm, I wonder if this is where we got the idea of christmas lights for our Christmas trees?
