Introducing Cecilia Lowry
From beautiful landscapes to historic buildings, Cecelia has built an impressive portfolio of images executed in oil, acrylic and pastel. Evolving from drawing and painting as a child, to earning her bachelor's and master's degrees and completing her teaching credential from the California State Universities has contributed to her skills. She studied with Stan Sinnett, Kwok Lau, Don Lagerberg, Brad Fraegre, and Ernest Lacy. Her love of capturing moments in time and imparting her personal interpretations on canvas goes with her when she travels or visits local beaches or historic buildings.
Living for twenty years in the historic city of Whittier drew her to paint community celebrations, old buildings, the train depot, Central Park, Whittier's old downtown buildings, old homes, Bailey House, the college and more. Those paintings are now on permanent display in the Whittier Museum as documents of days gone by. She shared her love of art with others by giving art lessons, demonstrations, judging art shows, and college scholarship programs for the Whittier Gallery. Being the Whittier Art Association's president, gallery chairperson and scholarship chairperson over the years put her into positions to help the community with their cultural art programs.
After moving to Capistrano Beach in 2005, her love of the ocean has led to a new chapter in her career and painting many ocean scenes.
