OCEAN AND HABITAT AWARENESS
Oceanview Gallery local Artists and Educators have joined together to collectively address and raise awareness about climate change and activity along the South Orange County Coast, California. Our coastline is a unique arrid rainshadow and lends itself to the California Impressionistic painting style that I like to call " painting illusions of light and color" due to the sun warming the land and merging with our cool ocean and creating soft filtering light along our coast. Due to grassroots activism, our "villages by the sea" community is continuosly involved to prevent overpopulation and overdevelopment in order to protect one of the last great State Parks and Beaches in Southern California.
Articles on climate change appear almost daily in our newspapers and on television; and with the metropolitan sprawl and traffic congestion on I-5, it can appear that such issues are beyond our control. Our Artists 4Green Environment use their personal experiences and love of painting to create visual art that will raise an awareness that everyone individually can Make a Difference and help manage the impacts of climate change...' | Painting in Plein Air is a unique experience that places the Artist in a changing open air environment bringing about spontaneous opportunities to closely observe nature in its every changing environmental condition...the illusion of light is continuously changing, the sun is moving from day to night, the wind is at your back or in your face, and of course... the ever changing subjects. So, to reap the rewards of this unique experience - just do it - jump in and bring your paint brushes, watercolor pencils or pastel crayons and then kick back and be a kid again and just paint what you see. Join our group of Plein Air Artists for a Green Environment (AGE) from the South Orange County Coast (SOCC)and have a fun day of painting. Are you new to the area or a visiting artist?
