Maestro Javier Alvarez Palomar
was born in the artistic heart of Mexico, the state of Michoacan. His Tarascan Indian roots have inbued him with deeply intuitive instincts that are revealed in the emotion and passion of his art that draws in the viewer - whether it is a powerful life-size figure drawing or a refined portrait. Rarely is an Artist so adept at capturing the directness and emotional expression of the subject. His drawings, paintings and sculptures transcend the mere understanding and application of the formal elements of art and anatomy by amazingly conveying the complexities of attitude and inner spirit.
Javier earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and two Masters degrees in drawing and painting from the State University of California at Long Beach. His inspirations as an artist have been the great masters - Rembrandt, Rubens, Michelangelo and to a lessor degree the Mexican muralists. Mexican Master, Raul Anguiano commented, " ...No one draws like that anymore!"
Maestro Alvarez currently teaches at Fullerton Community College, Saddleback Community College
and holds various workshops at the Laguna Canyon Studios and Laguna Woods Community Center in South Orange County and we are fortunate to view his Originals at
numerous Art Gallery Events in California.
