Introducing, Amanda Jeanne Cameron, PhD to our Oceanview Gallery of the South Orange County Coast. Amanda is currently teaching Fine Art Emeritas classes at Capistrano Unified School District and various private facilities and we are so fortunate to have Amanda join us and share her exceptional gift of providing her Inspirational Impressionism style of painting. It's fascinating to watch her approach her large canvas and then "paint with vigor" a stunning colorful expression alla prima, or finished in one session. Amanda Jeanne Cameron, PhD, Artist and Founder of Art Studio Workshop From an early age Amanda loved painting and performing . Adolescence brought emersion in the worlds of Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci and the French Impressionists. She studied with various mentors in Arkansas, the Virginia's, the Carolina's and was a painting Mom with a kitchen easel totally respected by her precious children, Cameron and Willy. Amanda moved to the West Coast and kept busy painting and working in theatrical sculpture with the Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Department of Cal State University, San Francisco.
She founded the Arkansas Art Therapy Association and designed art therapy studios for New Hope Christian Psychiatric Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. In Little Rock she taught creative family workshops at the Arkansas Art Center, and served as consulting specialist in Art Therapy for University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). She has conducted Art Therapy Sessions in Senior Homes and Psychiatric Centers in Arkansas and California.
Classes she has taught include drawing and painting with Marine Wives Clubs in Virginia and North Carolina, creative workshops with children in drawing and painting and constructing musical instruments in San Francisco and Little Rock, and painting and drawing classes for children and adults in South Orange County, California. Her credential in Art was earned at Cal State University, Fulleton
She consults with her mentor, Jane Doxey, who along with husband Col. Donald Doxey inspired and encouraged the young artist and mother. Jane quotes the following on how to be an artist: " Learn to watch snails....look forward to dreams....believe in magic. Laugh alot...take moonbaths...giggle with children. Listen to old people....be free...play with everything...hug trees...rewrite love letters." (Sark '90)
